Deciding whether to Rent or Buy a Bounce House

A bounce house can be a great activity for children at a party. These are extremely popular, and there are many types from which to choose. The two basic choices you will have is to buy or rent one. There are advantages and disadvantages to each method, and a lot will depend on the characteristics of your party and you.

First you need to consider the size of your party. Most of the bounce houses you buy for home use do not accommodate that many children. They may only be made for eight or less kids. Of course you could have the kids take turns but if you have a party with thirty kids then you will either have to spend a great deal of money to get a large professional one or rent one. If, however, you are only having a few kids, then buying one might make sense.

Think about when else you would use the bounce house if you were to buy one. Typically you will spend more to buy one than to rent one, however renting one is still not cheap. For instance you may spend $400 to buy one and $100 to rent it. If you are just using it that one time then the $100 might make sense. If, however you hope to use it ten more times at different parties then it might make more sense to buy it. Of course, you can also just use it as a general play structure for your kids.

Think about whether you have the room to store a bounce house. Bounce houses actually fold down quite a bit and are relatively small when stored as compared to when inflated. Still they are not tiny, and you need to make sure you have the room to safely store them.

You also need to think about setting it up and running it during the party. If you do not want to worry about this then you might want to just rent one. They can be very heavy.

One advantage of renting a bounce house from a company is that they will often offer insurance. This can provide protection in case someone gets hurt. You may be liable if there is a problem with your own bounce house, and you may be able to protect yourself by renting one.

There is no right or wrong on whether to buy or rent a bounce house for a party. Think about each of the above factors when deciding what to do for your event.
