REGINO CHAVEZ

Regino Chávez has over 30 years of experience in the field of educational research. He has extensive experience in examining educational programs in the U.S. as well as internationally. Mr. Chávez has worked in the areas of improving the quality of education at level of preschool, elementary school and high school levels. His work in Central America and South America has concentrated on service development to withdraw children from the worst forms of child labor. His work has included policy work for investing in early childhood education, improving education quality at the elementary school level and the training educational practitioners in the use of research for improving educational practices. Other basic research and evaluation projects focused on social marketing campaigns for promoting parent-teen communication; campaigns promoting the enrollment and retention of girls in elementary schools in different countries such as Egypt, India, El Salvador, Guatemala and Malawi; research to promote support for early childhood education among key constituencies in El Salvador and in South Africa; basic research to promote healthy eating; evaluations of the impact of a program on anti-handgun violence program among California residents; message testing for the prevention of drinking and driving among teens in Texas; and basic research to identify strategies for identifying messages promoting prevention of sexually transmitted diseases throughout Central American countries.
