V. VALE
V. Vale began his publishing career during the early days of punk rock as a response to the mainstream media depiction of punk. Funded in part by Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, "Search & Destroy" became his first publication. After eleven issues, "Search & Destroy" was followed by RE/Search, which to date has published 30 books on various alternative culture subjects, the latest of which is "Pranks 2." In addition to book publishing, Vale is now hosting an alternative culture talk show, "The Counter Culture Hour," which can be seen on public access television in San Francisco, as well as on-line (veoh.com).
As a second-generation Asian-American, Vale has always identified with and championed the outsiders of society. He has become a cultural spokesperson, having participated in decades of underground cultural movements, with his influence spanning the globe.
