The chill and thrill began at the very beginning of the game. The creepy mood is set right from the first puzzle, outside of the iron gates. The backgrounds are exquisite in their detail. Clues are highly detailed and portrayed realistically. Animals have threatening undertones that compliment the story mood. The best graphics are of the ghost who appears. The ethereal qualities send chills down the spine.
The background music accompanies and sets the eerie mood of the story. The best sound feature is the voice acting done by the ghost. The ghost carries undertones of warning while begging for help for other lost souls. It is only the sound effects of found clues that offset the feeling of underlying doom.
Mystery Case Files: Return To Ravenhearst is an excellent sequel to the game. The puzzles are of just the right difficulty to solve. Not overly hard, they do take a little brain power to figure out. The intriguing puzzles and story line keep the player interested in taking the next step. It is easy to retrace steps to use a tool elsewhere when needed. The overall feeling of the game remains true to its story line. Fans of Mystery Case Files will love this new addition and continuation of a favorite story line.
The biggest drawback was the hint clock. Instead of having a set number of hints, a clock must be refilled before getting another hint. Finding objects speeds up this clock. But if really stuck on the last clue, it takes a long time to fill back up. The other small drawback was some of the objects were a little ambiguous. For example, a club could be a stick or the actual symbol on a card. In this case, the club was the symbol on the card.
Mystery Case Files: Return To Ravenhearst is a good addition for those addicted to hidden object games. Even those who do not normally play such games will find this one entertaining and intriguing. It is a game I will definitely be adding to my collection.
