RICHARD BEGGS
Richard Beggs, a sound designer and mixer on more than 60 feature films since 1976, has worked with Francis Coppola, Barry Levinson, Sophia Coppola, Alfonso Cuaron and other major directors. He won an Academy Award for sound for Apocalypse Now and a TEC Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Film Sound, and has received five Golden Reel sound nominations.
Beginning in 1988, in addition to his work on films, he created scores for three contemporary ballets, winning an Isadora Duncan Award for the ballet score of “The Awakening.”
Trained as a painter, Beggs received a B.F.A from the San Francisco Art Institute and an M.F.A. from the California College of Arts and Crafts (now California College of the Arts). He exhibited at SFMOMA, the Oakland Museum of Art and collaborated with the S.F. Museum of Conceptual Art.
Beggs continues to paint and teaches film sound as an adjunct professor at the California College of the Arts. He is an associate fellow of Berkeley College at Yale University, and sits on the board of directors of the San Francisco Arts Education Project.
A native San Franciscan, Beggs has his sound studio at the San Francisco Film Centre in the Presidio of San Francisco. His recent projects include Marie Antoinette, released fall 2006, and Children of Men.
REGINO CHAVEZ
Regino Chávez has over 30 years of experience in the field of educational research. He has extensive experience in examining educational programs in the U.S. as well as internationally. Mr. Chávez has worked in the areas of improving the quality of education at level of preschool, elementary school and high school levels. His work in Central America and South America has concentrated on service development to withdraw children from the worst forms of child labor. His work has included policy work for investing in early childhood education, improving education quality at the elementary school level and the training educational practitioners in the use of research for improving educational practices. Other basic research and evaluation projects focused on social marketing campaigns for promoting parent-teen communication; campaigns promoting the enrollment and retention of girls in elementary schools in different countries such as Egypt, India, El Salvador, Guatemala and Malawi; research to promote support for early childhood education among key constituencies in El Salvador and in South Africa; basic research to promote healthy eating; evaluations of the impact of a program on anti-handgun violence program among California residents; message testing for the prevention of drinking and driving among teens in Texas; and basic research to identify strategies for identifying messages promoting prevention of sexually transmitted diseases throughout Central American countries.
GRAHAM HENMAN
Graham is an Englishman who started out as a commercial photographer in the UK and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a directing career.
He co-founded HKM Productions, a highly successful television commercial production company that is still going strong after 26 years in business. Graham has directed classic spots for Coke, Pepsi, Miller Beer, Budweiser, GE, Nintendo, Suzuki, Ford, Volkswagen, HP, McDonalds, American Airlines, MCI, GTE and many other leading brand names in his long career.
From the beginning, Graham’s directing career skyrocketed, earning him award after award, including a Gold Lions at the International Advertising Film Festival in Cannes, France.
Graham is also a partner/owner in 2 other successful production companies, Rockfight and The Directors Bureau.
He is also a co-founder and owner of Asylum Visual Effects in Santa Monica. A high end, post visual effects facility that has been nominated for 3 Academy Awards for ‘Black Hawk Down’ – Ridley Scott, ‘Master and Commander’ – Peter Weir and ‘Moulin Rouge’ – Baz Luhrmann Graham still directs television commercials, manages the production companies, nurtures the careers of his other directors and advises on progress at Asylum.
As advertisers explore new and more creative avenues to get their brands noticed, Graham has become increasingly busy in solving their needs while creating greater opportunities for his directors within these new formats of branded content.
BOB REICHBLUM
Bob Reichblum has extensive Senior Management experience as the former Executive producer of Good Morning America, CEO of the internet business news channel, WebFN, Vice President/Prime Time CNBC, News Director of two major market television stations and internationally as COO of Israel’s Channel 10.
TOM SEBASTIAN
Tom Sebastian is Senior Vice President of the William Morris Agency responsible for creative and entertainment strategy for corporate clients across: motion picture, television, and digital. Prior to joining William Morris Tom was the Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of the San Francisco based advertising and new media firm PRN. Tom started his career in political advertising at The Sawyer/Miller Group in NYC . He has also held programming and creative development positions at Lifetime Television, Whittle Communications, Time Life, Sonalysts Studios, and The Health Channel. Tom lives in both San Francisco and Los Angeles with his wife Lisa and son's Beau and Gray.
V. VALE
V. Vale began his publishing career during the early days of punk rock as a response to the mainstream media depiction of punk. Funded in part by Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti, "Search & Destroy" became his first publication. After eleven issues, "Search & Destroy" was followed by RE/Search, which to date has published 30 books on various alternative culture subjects, the latest of which is "Pranks 2." In addition to book publishing, Vale is now hosting an alternative culture talk show, "The Counter Culture Hour," which can be seen on public access television in San Francisco, as well as on-line (veoh.com).
As a second-generation Asian-American, Vale has always identified with and championed the outsiders of society. He has become a cultural spokesperson, having participated in decades of underground cultural movements, with his influence spanning the globe.
