PAH-FEST:New Mexico 2007

PAH NATION, NMSU-Grants and the Cibola Arts Council are proud to announce the second annual PAH-Fest, a four day media extravaganza taking place in Grants, New Mexico. PAH-Fest 2007 will feature alternative and grass-roots story-telling through the use of today’s latest technology, celebrating the stories and voices of everyday people. Let us help you tell your story.
In 2006, PAH NATION and the Cibola Arts Council held the first annual PAH-Fest in Grants, New Mexico, the birthplace and capitol of PAH-Fest. Since then, Old Man PAH has traveled to Germany, and plans to host PAH-Fests all over the USA and the world.
Festival Features
Team Mobiflicks
On June 6, these five winning teams will come to Grants, New Mexico to complete their movies in 3 days. PAH-Fest will provide everything you will need to make your movie: a prosumer camera, an editing system and coaches, plus a one-day crash course to help you prepare for production. The competition begins at High Noon on June 6 and ends at High Noon at June 9. On June 10, all finalist films will be screened during a festival event. The winning team will discuss the process of making their film, and take questions from the audience. Teams will be eligible to win cash prizes!
YourTech Competition
Use a Mobile Phone, Web Cam, digital camera or anything else digital that allows you to do video. This contest will feature one-second to two-minute video portraits of you or another person.
Cell Phone Competition
We will provide video cell phones for you to make a 1-minute movie on a topic to be announced on the day of the competition. Date and time TBD.
The PAH NATION “Keeping The Torch Lit” Award
Announcing the 2007 "Keeping the Torch Lit" Award winner David Carradine! Each year during, PAH NATION honors an individual of distinctive vision. Dubbed the “Keeping the Torch Lit Award”, this Honoree has created a compelling and significant body of work that exemplifies both a spirit of strong individuality and a commitment to the greater human spirit. Festivites will include nightly screenings of the Honoree’s work followed by a themed party, and of course the Awards Ceremony.
Calling all Outlaws!
Hey Rebels and Mavericks! If your team was not chosen for participation in the Team Mobiflicks competition, or you spaced out on the whole registration thing, you can still tell your digital story and enter it under the "Outlaw Category." Just show up in Grants, NM on June 6th with your own camera, editing system, 3 friends, and whatever else you need to make your movie. Hand in your movie along with the other contestants at noon on June 9, and you'll have a shot at winning the cash prize! The winner of PAHFEST 2006 was an Outlaw Team so you have a great chance of coming out on top.
