“DIGIVANGELIST” CHRISTOPHER COPPOLA AND CSB SCHOOL OF BROADCASTING BRING FREE DIGITAL MEDIA FESTIVAL TO LAS VEGAS
LAS VEGAS, NV -- Christopher Coppola, filmmaker (from the famous Coppola/Cage family) is bringing MiniPAH FEST, his revolutionary digital new media festival to Las Vegas June 6-8, 2008.PAH stands for Project Accessible Hollywood and MiniPAH is a three-day, free digital media festival that travels to cities throughout the US and internationally. A variety of people, no matter what age, have the chance to tell their stories through video in four contests throughout the short festival. Participants are given digital equipment and a professional coach encouraging them to create their own short digital film. MiniPAH offers participants the opportunity to build confidence in themselves, while using digital technology and bringing forth “the artist within us all.” The finished work is displayed in the www.pahnation.org online theatre, where the public and celebrity judges review it and cast their votes for the winners. All submissions will remain on the www.pahnation.org website indefinitely for sharing.
Dubbed the “Pirate” of the Coppola family, Christopher says his main goal is to “bridge the gap between Hollywood and the heartland.” He believes that great stories come from anyone and everyone, and that with the advent of digital technology, those stories can be shared globally through video and the Internet. He created PAH-FEST (Project Accessible Hollywood) for this purpose. The concept is simple – put a digital video camera or a cell phone in the hands of someone with an idea and let them create art. Then put the finished project on the Internet to enable cross cultural communication.
MiniPAH: LAS VEGAS contests include, 1) Cell Phone Art - a 1-min or less video created on a cell phone, 2) DigiPortraits- on a cell phone, participants shoot a 2-min portrait of themselves or another person, and 3) Cellular Tone Poem - musicians, songwriters and composers shoot a 2 min video to portray their original music, and 4) Circus Vision Challenge - using a cell phone, children ages 14 or under, embark on a visual treasure hunt to shoot a list of visual ingredients.
